Fall is the Preppiest Season: subdued smart-casualness

If the color scheme of the previous outfit seemed too bright, this one has a more autumnal palette and will work in various contexts that fall under the "smart casual" label, from not-too-conservative work environments to evening events.

Black t-shirt, Gant. As said before, these types of tees help keep delicate sweaters stain-free (at least from within).

Patterned burgundy velvet skirt, Jack Wills.

Chocolate leather riding boots, L.K.Bennett.

Charcoal cashmere sweater, Jigsaw.

70-den black tights, Falke.

And subtle but effective jewelry keeps a somber outfit from being boring:

Triple-strand freshwater pearl necklace and matching stud earrings, Astley Clarke.

Two-tone watch, Seiko. As mentioned, I love two-toned watches for their versatility.

Gold monogram cutout bracelet, DKM Accessories. I saw this over at College Prep and it's one of the cutest monogrammed pieces I've ever seen.

Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard gold solitaire bracelet, Tiffany & Co.
